Default 6L carb motor, cam suggestions ?

Getting ready to start the rebuild on the lq4 for my olds. Just wondering what experiances people are having with cam selection for a motor running a carb ? If it helps the car is going to have a 700r4 behind it and currently has 3.55 rear gears in it. The plan for the motor is just a stock rebuild with a upgraded cam and valve springs due to the cam bearing going south on it in stock form. Thanks for any input !

The car is going to be a street car with limited track time, hopefully going to try and stay on a lower budget build. I was just trying to see if anyone has had any good experiances, intake will be a vic. jr, the box will be a msd 6010, and most likely be running truck exhaust manifolds for just to get it running.

I think you're talking about this guy - I don't know for sure if he has the same nickname on this board, but I'd guess that he probably does...

Maybe the 02+ LS6 cam or GMPP ASA cam for a budget build, with LS6 valve springs and pushrods and LS2 timing chain.

I ran a T-Rex last year with a 6.0 short block with my ported '98 heads. Fairly simple setup and worked very well.

I'm using a LG motor sports cam its a G5X2 specs are .595/.608 232*/240* I bought it used so it was pretty cheap new Patriot gold springs and Thunder Racing push rods. Pretty close to the same setup as you but with custom headers. The vid that V8Rumble posted was with 3.73 gears. Like Roller406bu said drive it any where on pump gas run 10's on spray and its been 11.7 on the motor. Here's a couple videos from the track with no mufflers on the car
