Default T56 question

I have a t56 from a LT1 camaro and I want too put it on a LS1 what things do I need too change to make it work?

Bellhousing, input shaft, midplate. Probably need a pack of shims to re-shim, new snap rings all around for when you take it apart.

easier to sell it and buy an LS1 unit.

It really isn't too bad if you or someone close knows what they're doing. I rebuilt an LT1 T56 with no prior experience and it worked out just fine - then I swapped it to the LS1 style. A lot cheaper if you can find the parts for a decent price, then you're not dealing with shipping hassles for a tranny.

If the trans is in good condition and has no problems it would be better to sell it and buy a used LS1 style tranny. When I did my LS1 swap I sold my LT1 T56 for most of what the 30k LS1 T56 cost me. I would only go to the added expense of swapping it over if it needed a rebuild.
