Default T56 with carb, wiring??

How can you run a t56 with a carb? What I am wondering about is the reverse lockout and speedometer. The reverse lockout I believe I've read you can just hook it up to a 12V switch, correct? Are there speedometers that will hook up to the speed sensor or does it have to run through the computer? If that doesnt work is my only option to switch to a manual tailshaft? Thanks for the help, i've been searching like mad without success. (Was the search down for everybody else last night btw?)

Reverse lockout: it's not a real lockout, just push harder to get reverse.

Speedo: any Autometer electronic speedo will work fine off the stock GM speed sensor.

Backup lights: hook the switch up in place of your old tranny's backup light switch, no need to add a relay or anything.

CAGS solenoid: just leave it disconnected.

Rodder covered it all. Just push harder to get it in reverse. I bought a connector to make it work but then just decide to go ahead and use it without it hooked up.

You could hook the reverse lockout to a brake pedal switch, just to be safe.

I have a T56 in my carbed 94 Gt and the speedo works fine . I too didn't bother with the reverse lock out crap and push it a little harder when using reverse .

I don't understand that. It takes MAYBE 5 minutes to run a couple wires and tap into the brake light switch on the pedal and then you have a functioning lockout. Why not? Don't tell me manhandling it into reverse is easier. I like my trans is slip into each gear but maybe that's just me.

I have the connector and everything to put my lockout in but "manhandling" the shifter into reverse the once in 20 trips i need it doesnt bother me. It can be done with one hand easily. I have manual steering so i guess the car is just meant to me 'manhandled'

reverse lockout with a manual? how about you just don't put it in reverse.. it's not like a T56 can be put in reverse on accident...
