First off you'll need a set of motor mounts for the Impy. Street and Performance has a set. http://www.hotrodlane.cc
Had my '96 Impy for 10 years, sold it to get my Avalanche, still miss it.
Probably want to post most of your questions in the Hybrid section.

It's not too bad. I would recommend using the 6l90e transmission since you have a controller for it and need a different transmission anyway. I have a 96 Impala with an LY6 6.0 (now a 403) and a T56.

is there any other way to control the 4l60 without a stand alone controller for it? also will the 4l60 bolt up to the l92 or is a different bellhousing needed?

If you are referring to using a 4l60e with the E38 computer that the L92 uses, no you have to use an aftermarket computer. Chacho44, what kind of pointers do you need? I would advise you to go to the Conversions & Hybrids section on this forum as well as Impalassforum.com and most of your answers will be answered.

You may be able to run a 4l80e but I'm not 100% or use the new Lingenfelter unit that converts the 58x crank signal & 4x cam signals back into 24x crank & 1x cam signals and use an LS1 ECM to control the engine and the 4l60e.
