Default LQ4 yr? TH400 spacer needed?

Hey fellas,

I am pretty sure the LQ4 I have is a 2003, which means i should only have to use the regular LS1 flexplate to mount a TH400 to it. Or is it the later ones that need the spacer? Here are some pics of the

I have a 2003 LQ4 in my 2001 SS, use the LS1 flexplate and not the LQ4/4L80E flexplate. Only the 1999-2000 LQ4s used the longer crankshaft, the others (LQ4s) used a spacer in between the (flat) flexplate and crankshaft for the 4L80E. The LQ9 used with 4L60E used the LS1 (curved) flexplate.

I have an 01 LQ4 bolting up to a 700R4. Do I need to change the flexplate to an older style with a spacer or can I keep the stock LQ4 plate?

You will need the spacer and 6.0L/4L80E flexplate. The flexplate is the same one used from 1999-2007 on 6.0L with a 4L80E. The crankshaft in 1999-2000 6.0L had an extra thick flange to space the 6.0L/4L80E flexplate properly, which was different from the LSx flexplate. In 2001 GM used only one crankshaft and incorporated a spacer for engines used with the 4L80E.

That is because your 6.0L was mated to a 4L80E.
That is a good link.

Will the bolt holes for my 700R4 converter line up with the flex plate or do I need to egg out the holes a little?

Engine is from an 01 yukon denali if it makes a difference.

I have the hughes crank spacer for my th400. Is that all I need? Or do I add longer bolts? I'm going to be bolting it together soon and I want everything to be perfect.

The stock 6.0L flat flex plate will work as well.

I just bolted mine up with all the same parts and I needed to drill new holes. I used 1 existing and had to make 2 new.
