Default Adding an Electric Fan to Original Chevelle Fan Shroud

Has anyone tried to retrofit an original Chevy fan shroud with an electric fan for an LS conversion? Is there any reason that it would not work? Given that these engines run so cool wouldn't the original radiator be adequate with a large volume single fan with 2500 CFM? Any input/thoughts would be appreciated.

I have an off the shelf GM radiator with JY Taurus electric fan cooling mine. No overheating problems here.

Only possible thing to consider is modern aluminum radiators are half the weight of the old brass radiators. So depending upon the year of your car it might be worth upgrading for that reason alone.
