Default PCM and Harness choices. Which is the best?

I need to start thinking about my PCM/harness choice. I am transplanting a 99 LS1 out of a Vette into my Porsche 944. Right now i just have a bare longblock. I want DBW definately. I have seen there is a difference in the early LS harnesses that has to do with the knock sensors? Any direction would be great. I can modify any of the harnessess myself, and am thinking of getting a complete PCM/Harness/pedal assy/TAC moduale all off a truck and going from there. Any year better? All PCM's can be flashed with the HPTurners software? Thanks,
Mark

Check out these links, they might help. How come yuo want to use drive by wire? I have a 02 ls1 from a vette and I want to use a cable throttle body, so I'm also a little confused as to what I'm going to need to do as far as harness wise when I get to that stage.

Ill check out the links, thanks.

I want to use DBW because the swap i am doing has been done before by a few people, so i want to stand out by doing a very detailed, very clean swap and prove it can be done for less than $5000. DBW is an option that gives me a cleaner install, and the option to add cruise down the road.
