Default Can you "Shave" an intake?

I have a truck intake that I want to shave the useless and unsightly brackets and fins. Then epoxy and paint. Can this be done? Has anyone done this to a truck intake? I searched and seen an LS1 intake done, but not the ugly truck intakes. Just curious.

Mikem77 is doing that very thing. I would think as long as you don't go apeshit and take off too much, it would be fine.....see thread below, post #5

There was another guy that shaved everything off and then put an aluminum cap acrooss the top to cover all the holes. I think he painted it tan or copper colored after that. Looked pretty good.

That is all I can remember. Wish I had paid attention as i may want to do the same thing.

I just think it would make a nice finishing touch in a swap application. I will try it and see how things come out.

The early one piece truck intakes don't look too bad when they are smoothed. I would think the later multi-piece manifolds are a lost cause.

It can be done, IIRC I pulled these pics off one that was listed on e-bay a couple years ago.
