Welcome to the forum and a fellow A-Body guy....
You shuold be able to pick up a LS1 intake cheap, but if you don't mind using the Truck one, It will most likely perform better in the low to mid range RPM over the LS1 intake, But if you can afford it, look for a LS6 intake. That would be the best bang for the buck ($300-350).
BRP kits. You can get it directly from them, Talk 2 Shawn.
A stock F-Body oil pan can be used, but it is very tight. Notching it would be a option. You would have to use the early style BRP plates. BRP is pushing the use of the LH8 / Hummer oil pan with there new kits, 3rd option is the CTS-V pan. 4th is more costly, but after market.
You can try using a B-body take for the cheap way (price) as I have and other. Or pickup one of the Fuel tanks that are already setup for EFI intank for about $500 (I think someone said it can be found at Rockauto, look for the Spectra tanks).
Is that a real SS ?
Keep us posted....

nice to meet you bczee, ive read alot on your swap. nice work by the way!
ive been looking around at the ls6 intakes,am trying to find one with rails and injector but no luck. one of my coworker i talked to today said he has a ls1 intake, is it worth swaping it ? or will it juss be more for looks?
do you happen to have the web site for the brp? i googled it but just
want to know if am at the right site..
the spectra fuel tank is my second option, pretty clean setup with that,if not
ive seen some guys put the external pump on the frame and do it that way.
the car is a real ss i picked it up of a guy that had it parked in his garage for 12 years. the only rust on the car is the left front lower fender. you can still see the orignal strip on the car some what. the guages was one of my concerns, i want to keep the factory and not change them out. the only problem i have is the mph guage to convert it... the oil and coolant is no biggie.

Thanks..
There are problem with both the LS1 and LS6 intakes if your planing to keep the Truck front Accessories..that being the water pump, there are ways around it. There are many Threads and also check out the Performance Truck section, many of them have swaped in LS1/6 intake on there trucks.
From many of the past posts.. the LS1 intake may only be better for looks and maybe above 4500-5000+ RPM range as far as HP/TQ... below that.. The truck intake have been reported as produce better numbers.
BRP's web site is BRPHOTRODS.COM, they are also running a forum site too Retrolsx.Com
Sound like a good find, I just hate to think of hacking a real SS, but with the shape it is in, I guess it would be ok.

yea i agree would go a little bigger cam, 220 if you keep the lift below .550 you can use ls6 springs 60 bucks brand new, but yea the ls6 cam should give you 400 hp. at the motor.maybe a tad more with right tune, you can get like 480 hp with bigger cam and ported 5.3 heads. thats from 325 ci..impressive..and the stock truck intake flows more than a stock ls1,, ls6 flows better than both of them.. average 300 bucks.

well i came across a zo6 came but got sold for 160.. so am looking a other options. tomorrow ill find out how much to port my heads. if i cant do that then a cam a springs is the only thing ill probably do..
i did find a 05 gto intake with fuel rail, tb and all off the accessories with brackets for 350
but i want to keep my truck acc. he wont let it go alone!
but it is a good price!
so anyting under 550 lift i should be good with just springs?

Nice project. I have always loved those chevelles. I too just picked up a 5.3 and 4L60e but it is going into a 67 camaro. My car is in the same shape as your ss. Good luck with the build.

thanks everyone!!
ive seen the tr224 cam in other swaps and i think its the best route iam going to go with.. then my heads am going port and polish them, people have told me they have used the stock springs but iam looking at changing em out, will see tho..
my energy mounts came in today and i picked up a plate of 1/4 steel to convert them. going with brp style.

i'm doing a ls1 swap ($350 for complete motor and 4l60 tranny), so i'm glad to see someone else is doing swaps also. Good luck and keep us posted on progress and hints and tricks
