Questions for those using CSR 911LS1 thermostat housing
I've seen the earlier posts on the CSR 911LS1 thermostat housings. I need a straight housing, and I like the idea of a readily available thermostat. However with the problems in the discussions, I'm wondering if this is the correct part to buy?
Do you have to modify the standard small block chevy thermostat, or did they have the wrong thermostat, and the correct one goes right in? Any Stant part numbers for the correct ones?
Is it loose, and does it rattle? Again, does the correct part rattle in there?
One gentleman kept asserting that the heater ports will not work right with this setup. I live in Ohio, and the heater has to work. Does the heater function with this setup?
Would like to hear from those that use the part, rather than those speculating.

CSR housing
It depends how much heat you need. The small block stat doesn't close off the heater passage like the LS stat does. I ran my 6.0 LS TJ all winter in MN last year and had to go up to a 195 degree stat to get any heat out of it. The LS 180 degree stat in my other Jeep put out all kinds of heat.
The CSR housing seems to work fine. I think it does rattle a little.
Just my .02
