Default LT1 coolant temp sensor to work with a 65 Chevelle gauge?

I'm doing an Lt1 swap and I want my stock chevelle temp gauge to work with my LT1 swap. I noticed that there are 2 temp sending units on the engine.

1. One on the water pump
2. One on the passenger side head

Does the computer need both sending units?
Can I substitute one sensor with a stock 1965 sensor to hook it up straight to my gauge?

Any help is appreciated.

The one on the Water Pump goes to the Computer, the one on the Head goes to the Gauges.

So the temp sensor hole in the LT1 head is a 3/8 18. The temp sensor I need to run the stock gauge has a 1/2 thread. Anyone have ideas to make this work? The ohms from the LT1 sensor and the old Chevelle sensor are so far off that they will not work with each other. Some ideas I have are / were...

Machine the 1/2 sender to 3/8. - This a great idea but I emailed someone here and he said that he tried to do thios before. It failed becuase he ended up cutting throught the sender.

Try a G body sender from the eighties. - The ohms / impedance are too far off and will not work

Weld a bung to the thermostate housing. - Too tight of a fit. The sender will hit the throttle body.

Weld a bung into the radiator. - Is this a good place to do it for accurate readings?

Any other ideas?

I ended up using a part number TS131 sender. It has a very close resistance curve as the stock sensor. My dash only reads hot or cold and no numbers so this works perfect. I bought a 3/8" Male to 1/8" Female NPT Reducer Fitting Adapter off of ebay so I can use screw it into the head.
