Default LQ4 harness mod and ECU reflash

I will be soon installing a '02 LQ4 and a T56 in my '52 Chevy truck. I have the complete wiring harness but will need to have it cleaned up. I will also need to have the ECU re-flashed and tuned. I have been searching and came up with some good info. but would like some suggestions regarding this set up. I not opposed to cleaning up the harness myself but I am hesitant. Who is the preferred harness vendor? I will also need a reputable vendor to re-flash my ECU. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I called a few wiring vendors regarding my project. I may have my harness modded instead of doing it my self. $450.00 seems a little expensive to mod a wiring harness but it may be worth it in the end. I still need a good tuner to reflash my ECU, any ideas?

John at Speartech is very good.. also Jesse at Wait4meperformance, Currentperformance.. many of the other sponsors and vendors on this site...

Both can do the reflashing and return your harness and ECM.. I used Jesse for my ECM.. wiring was done my me and a friend. Jesse charged $85 for the retune and shipping..

We used Current Performance in Tampa to make our harness for our 1998 LQ4/4L60E Jimmy project. Easy as pie to hook up. Now on my 94 GMC fullsize 5.3/4L60E swap, I modded my own harness, didnt take any time at all.

I would like to mode mine but I'm not sure how to connect the switch power, fuell pump relay, etc. What about some of the wiring harnesses on e-bay for $350.00? I wonder if these are quality harnesses. I've seen several of these on e-bay.

Whoever you go with ensure you get a OBD2 port, check engine lamp, fan relays, fuel pump relays and all the fuses. Ask the Q's before laying out the cash. Some vendors leave out the necessary stuff and you have to add tons of connections just to get the car started.

I sent you a PM too regarding programming.

Will I need the MAF sensor with the re-flashed ECU? I see the MAF's on the cars with stand alone wiring and re-tuned ECU's. I was under the impression the MAF was not needed after a re-flash program.

You can do away with the MAF if you have your ECU flashed with a Speed Density tune (SD). For better street drivablity and fuel milage, keeping the MAF would be the way to go, but it up to you.

Jims Performance quoted me under $350 for the harness mods and $200-ish for the re-flash. I have used him in the past for other harnesses and his work is top notch!!!

$200 is way overpriced to do a reflash for a swap, of course with Jim doing it, He thinks it a fair price.

Is this Jim's Peformance a sponsor here on tech? If not, I would kindly ask you not to advertise for someone that isn't paying to be here. If we as sponsors all did that, this site wouldn't exist, or at least it wouldn't be as in depth as it is.
