it says stainless works longtubes and corsa sport catback. corsa is not usually helpful at providing just mufflers for custom installs you can try contacting them though, i had a corsa system on my 04 gto and loved it but teh company has not been very flexible in the past. nothing sounds exactly like corsa in my opinion, they don't use packing material, only engine specific noise cancelling.
you could try and find someone parting with a used setup and go from there, also the setup for the vettes is usually different, rear mufflers might be difficult to adapt to another type of setup, corsa setups for fbodys might be easier to adapt and would sound very similar, good luck

it definitely sounds great, but the sound that you're hearing cannot be achieved with exhaust alone, take note that the vette had a aftermarket cam installed. you would have to overcam you're 5.3 to get the ''cackle'' the vette had OR yould could get you a comp cams thumpr series cam and still have driveability, vacum, etc... plus long tubes and mostly any aftermarket mufflers and voila !!!!! flowmaster 40 series would be very loud and obnoxious.

In order to duplicate this sound, you would need:

C6 Corvette Corsa Sport Mufflers (mounted in the rear of your car) or an F-body Corsa sport muffler (would still sound pretty good)
Long Tube Headers
true dual 2.5" pipes with a crossover tube
Comp cam 231/237, .591/.601, 112 CL
Compression around 10.5 to 11.0
CAI
excellent tune

Does the block material have any effect on the exhaust sound? (Alum. vs. Iron)

I would say that cam might be a little big for a street 5.3. I have the same cam but a muscle car exhaust is set up a little different than the Vette.

Pypes Violators might sound similar.

40 series flowmaster mufflers wouldnt sound like that at all

that system is distinct to Corsa you wouldnt like the Flowmaster if that Corvette is the sound your after
who likes flowmaster anymore anyway? i sure have heard enough of them to last me awhile

That vette sounds nothing like a 5.3 with a thumper cam and flowmasters would

just for comparison, this is what flowmasters sound like on a vette

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv4q8...eature=related

to get that sound youre going to need long tube headers, no cats, and corsa sport mufflers or else possibly SLP loudmouth mufflers

it is hard to get exactly the sound you want, spend a lot of time of ls1sounds and find a combo that sounds good and that has a system that is fairly universal type setup, also realize that you probably wont be putting cats on your car which will affect how it sounds, listen to as many non catted setups as you can. lsx engines can be pretty raspy under certain circumstances so be careful

IF you want to sound like that Corvette you are going to need more cam than your 5.3 can use!! I'm guessing that thing has a lot of cubic inch.
