LS1 into 95 tahoe... Help please
ANyone done an LS1 swap in a 95 tahoe?? I have a guy who wants to purchase my engine and wants me to install it for him and do the wiring harness.
I know I can do the harness no problem and I know that GM sells spacers to make pre 98 4L60e's to mate up to the LS1 but my real question is about motor mounts, steering, fit and I guess some wiring help if connectors need to be changed and so on.
Any help would be great. Thanks

I was doing some research and happened across.

Would you guys recommend using the stock computer and harness or going to an LS1. I like the LS1 computer but I have no idea the capabilities of the 95 tahoe computer. I am suprised it would even work considering its TBI and not PFI.

go to ls1truck.com, LSX conversions forum, look at my thread. i have a 1994 gmc ext cab 1500, 5.3/4l60e in it. it is not done, but there are plently of pictures at the moment as well as some other stuff. I started the thread after I started the swap so it is mainly missing motor mount pics and a GOOD picture of the a/c notch. I also address my issues with trans-dapt conversion plates not working with the stock clams.

you use BOTH computers. The LS1 computer runs the LS1. The stock computer then handles the gauges, and those functions

I realize that. I am going to use the ls1 computer. i ran my 93 completely off the ls1 computer and I had all gauges working fine. I understand what it takes I am just hoping the 95 tbi has similar logic to my 93 ta. i doubt it though its tbi but gauges should be the same after all they had no new special gauge technology that was any better at this point.

you can get the vss signal from the ls1 computer for the abs as well. you don't need the old computer for anything. the ls1 computer must be reprogrammed for a number of things when being installed in another vehicle anyways. speedo calibration, vats removal, tach signal, egr removal, shift points and firmness, fan temps, and on and on. its all about having a tuner that knows what he's doing when it comes to conversions, and everything works.
