heads/cam LS1 into a 1968 Firebird
Hey guys, i'm putting an LS1/A4 combo into my bird. Last year I did an LT1 into my wife's 1970 camaro and my car needs to be faster than hers so it's getting an LS1. I want to make as much power as is streetable without killing the gas mileage, so cam recommendations are welcomed. Also, if you have any swap parts for cheap, I'd be interested. Thanks ahead of time. It's good to be here.

finally done
I didn't get too much of a response on my original post, so I haven't really been back much but I have learned a lot from searches and whatnot, so I wanted to give back and post some pics and let anyone who wants ask questions about how I did mine. I refused to use aftermarket parts like mounts or accessories so I made everything myself and used the stock 2001 Trans Am parts as much as I could. Check it out and let me know what you think. I'll have more pics soon too.
This was without the a/c hooked up and with the fenders off
Header clearance
modified turbo 400 crossmember
rear axle when fitting the brakes, before paint

oil pan
Sam-
I had a 5.3 in there temporarily to sort out clearance and wiring issues while I was building the LS6. I notched the stock LS1 TA oil pan and that's what's in there now. I don't have a pic of it yet, but I will soon. I built the motor mounts to position the bottom of the TA oil pan dead even with the bottom of the front crossmember.
Thanks for the compliments.

Sam, I just realized you have that bad a$$ '69 TA I saw at Nifty Fifties one night. My wife and I LOVE that car. Thanks to you she wants me to put a GTO dash in her 70 Camaro.
