and LFA. Are these less sought after as swap motors because of AFM, FLEX FUEL, and VVT? What about the front drive car engines? I ask because these are out there as pull outs and mostly you hear about swapping in the more popular LQ9 and LQ4 OR reg. gas 5.3's. I'm just wondering if they are any harder to deal with when swapping or building than the other LSx motors? I want to start sourcing parts for 1 or 2 future swaps, and have seen these out there. Sorry for the acronym overkill! Thanks...

lq 6.0 are prefered because of larger ci obviuosly, and because all lq are 24x so the can be used with 99-02 fbody pcm.
it is easy to disable the the afm and vvt and retrofit back to normal.

The L33 is just as easy as a normal 5.3 swap. The L33 is just all aluminum with the LS6 cast heads.

Ok, so the LQ motors have the same reluctor wheels as 99-02 pcms. The 5.3's have to use a different or aftermarket pcm? Just trying to learn a little bit more for future refernce. So I don't buy something I don't need, can't modify, or etc.

Cool, keep it coming. Sounds like the L33 would be a great motor to get for a swap then, 5.3 w/ factory alum. block!

Hows it going? I have a few questions of my own. Could anyone fill me in on the LH6 and LY5? Which of these is aluminum and will the ls1 accessory drive work with these motors? I'm looking at these or a L33 for my project. Thanks for any help.

Also is it correct that only the 4WD trucks came with the aluminum L33 in 05 and 06.

I believe the LY5 is the 5.3 VVT engine IIRC. Whatever engine you get, be sure to snag the original ECM.

Ugh i'm looking at a L33 right now it's taking everything in me not to order until i'm sure of a few things. So with the ls6 intake and cam you can have around 350whp or crank hp with the L33 and will the camaro accessory drive work?

Don't get a front wheel drive engine. The bell housing bolt pattern is completly different, starter mounting is different, almost everything at the rear of the motor is different.

Hinds where are you located? I'm picking up my l33 in a few weeks they are good motors higher lift cam than the regular 5.3 and better flowing heads with 100lbs less weight so you could easily get 350 crank I would think just with headers and a tune since the factory rating was 310hp and they are identical to the lm7 as far as accessories go, you could use camaro acc but you would just need to change the water pump to a shorter one

did you read my post even? with a computer tune on a stock l33 you will have at least 330 at the crank. the blocks have the same holes as the camaro but the waterpumps are different lengths so if you want to use the camaro acc you will have to get a camaro waterpump which is good if you want to use an ls6 intake anyways
