Default quick question on water temp sending unit location

i am assuming this is where people put their sending unit for an aftermarket water temp gauge (Autometer/Classic Instruments). someone told me that this location was for an aftermarket OIL sending unit/gauge. would someone mind looking at the pic and confirming that i am ok to put the aftermarket water gauge sending unit here:

I have the water temp sensor for the pcm on the front of the driver side head. These heads are 853 if that matters at all.

Thanks again guys.

i do know this... if you forget to put that plug in the head you'll leak out water. lol thats where the water temp goes. i tried to put my electric fan switch there but the holes too small. nook and tranny make a adapter that retains the driver side water temp. for the computer and has a pigtail comming out of it for a guage if you dont want to bother with the passanger head.

yeah, youll need a metric gauge adapter if you use that port. autometer and vdo make one. definetly for water temp though. the piece right above the oil filter is where you will want to hook up your oil pressure gauge. you can take it off, drill it and tap it. or you can buy one already done. i got mine from street& performance.

That's what I thought. Thanks guys. My water temp sending unit from Classic Instruments is a 12mm, so I think I should be ok putting it in the spot I highlighted in the pic.
