Default 5.3 Intake Help

I have a '67 Bronco that I swapped in a '02 5.3. I want to switch over to the LS1/LS6 intake manifold to save clearance and helps looks. Now I know that the LS6 gains about 20HP over the LS1 manifold but those gains are only realized above 5k. I've been told that you lose power when removing the truck intake unless you go with the LS6 manifold. I don't spend a whole lot of time above 5k as this is a DD/off-roading rig. I have a LS1 manifold sitting in my garage right now should I use it or go pay $300+ for an LS6 manifold? Or will I lose too much torque getting rid of the truck manifold for either of these to make it worth it? FYI I will be installing a LS6 cam soon as well.

the ls6 will be better in the long run, if you decide to go beyond a ls6 cam, the ls6 intake will alredy be in place. and make more hp and tq overall than any other oe intake

Has anybody ever done a dyno comparison between a truck intake & a LS6? My main concern is I don't want to lose anything down low.

If you still want to swap over, you will have to do something about your accessories. Either switch to F body or similar, or....

Great info thanks! I was aware of the accessories needing to be modded but I was thinking the LS6 would gain enough to make it worth while. I think I will deal with the ugly as hell truck manifold for now.

Its not worth the swap. The guys on the truck site quit doing the LS6 swap years ago. As the gains were minimal and not worth the mods need to get it to fit!

But you might look for a TBSS LS2 intake. Its a truck intake with a 90mm TB. It flows as good as the LS6. And will bolt right on.
