Default VVT / Corvette acessary drive

Does anyone know would a Corvette accessary drive fit a LY6 engine with its VVT? I am unsure if a regular Corvette waterpump would fit a VVT motor. Do NEW Corvettes have VVT?

thanks,
Jim

Thumbs up

I think Mast Motorsports has "spacers" that will allow you to use the vette accessories with the VVT stuff.

yes it will physiscally bolt on and work. although u wont have access to the timing cover. u will need to use corvette crank pulley, alt/ps bracket with alt and ps pump. along with corvette wp and tensioner.

the front drive accesories have nothing to do with the vvt. the vvt is controlled by the pcm.
the front accesories, run off the crank pulley, they have no mechanical sensors or anything that interferes with the vvt.
are u shopping for corvette accesories. i have some pieces available

you can use the stock accessories with spacers. either way you'll need spacers to clear the cam phaser on the front of the timing cover.

and from experience (because i just finished putting my LY6 into my 1994 Firebird) ... VVT is 100000000000000% worth it. I've owned a 2001 Camaro SS with a F13 cam and my LY6 Firebird is in a completely different league performance-wise.... and it hasn't even been tuned yet.

I was under the assumpion that the cam phaser would stick out too far for a corvette waterpump. I am eyeballing a 07 or a 08 LY6 and I was wanting to use the 'Vette access. drive system. Am I missing the picture on this? I am a "newbie" so please bear with me.

What pieces do you have? I need a complete setup and was planning on just buying the GMPP kit from SD-PC. Any input?

So your VVT hits harder and earlier? Good. Don't these LY6 engine have the LS3/L92 heads too? I thought they are 6.0L with the LS3/L92 heads with VVT. Is this correct or did I misunderstand someone? I am hoping on buying one this week or next week if this is the case.

What do you mean you aren't "tuned" yet?n I take it, you are using the factory computer and just never had it tuned for better performance yet. Who did your harness and computer mods to work as a swap? I was looking into Speartech, but he just raised his prices

jimbo, VVT makes a HUGE impact on low-end torque and power. My ECU hasn't been tuned yet but i'm working on it.

Yeah, and this hasn't been tuned yet... I'm guessing it'll make over 400rwhp (hoping)...

My brother did the wiring for me; he's been wiring Toyota ECU's for years.
