Smile New project with a new car!

Alright, so this past week I traded my 97 Z/28 with supercharger cam, procharged, and positrac rear end. Sadly I had to. My fiancee was in a wreck and needed a car, but right now we just don't have the money for a new car. So I did the responsible thing...and offered to trade/sell my Camaro to get it worked out. Not even an hour into the listing, a guy calls me offering two cars for my one. One being a 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage (for her) and the gem, a 1985 Fiero GT with muncie 4 speed. While I realize the obvious horsepower loss, I have big dreams for it (as everyone does lol). I am planning on an IMSA widebody kit and an LSx/t56 swap sometime in the near future. Right now I'll be riding slower, but it won't be too long before it will run with the big dogs!

Lol hell yeah! I actually think that I'll probably just do a fastback conversion and not the widebody. It will be cheaper and much easier for me to handle on my own. Not to mention it will look much cleaner. Haha! But v8 is still definitely happening.

It has a Muncie 4 speed? Didn't know that was possible in a Fiero. But yeah, an LSx 6 speed combo would be stupid fast/fun! There's one on here with an LS6 that is awesome.

Yep! It has a muncie. Here is the wiki on it :

"All 4-speed manual transmissions were built at the Muncie, Indiana Allison plant. The 1984 production line saw two transmissions, a performance 4-speed with a final drive ratio of 4.10, and an economy 4-speed with a final drive ratio of 3.32. The V6 on the 1985 model and part of the 1986 production year came with a 4-speed with a final drive ratio of 3.65. The lower-geared 4.10 4-speed transmission showed improved acceleration, but sacrificed fuel economy."

I am really looking forward to it! And the infinitely better gas mileage will pretty awesome for a while. I'll save enough money from gas to buy a crate LS. haha!

Well I guess that makes sense, it's made by Muncie. I'm just old enough that when I hear "Muncie" I think 'Rock Crusher' like they put in first gen Camaros and Novas.

The LS1 into a Fiero is obviously doable. But I don't know how you would get a T56 in there. Some guys are using G6 six-speeds though.

I assume you've already checked out V-8 Archie?

F saving for the crate LS1... Pick up a super cheap 5.3 or used LS1 and get cracking!

PS I had big dreams of a V-8 Fiero back in 2000. I had the parts together to do the Cadillac 4.9 swap (into an 87 5-speed). I lost interest and am actually trying to sell that car now (8 years later). As you can see from my sig, I have to many projects to finish it now. I hope you have better luck!

Haha! Yeah, I actually meant to type the F40 or w/e it's called, and being an f-body owner, used the only transmission I know by heart. Lol My bad

Yeah, I'm really motivated right now to do it since I haven't started working on it yet, but that could change once I get into the build. Lol Thanks for the good wishes, I hope it goes easily as planned (never does).
