Default Adapter plate setback?

Hi guys,
I have a question about adapter plates. I pulled a gen 1 350 and 700r4 out of my car for my LS1 and 4L60 swap. What set back plates do I need to buy / make to position the bell housing in the same position as my old configuration? My goal is to keep my drive shaft. I have already bought Autokraft's pan and Edelbrock headers.

The 1" setback will get you the closest but will still be about 3/8ths forward. This might need an adjustment on the trans mount/ xmember but your driveshaft will usually work.

Well the passenger head is straight up from the bellhousing, not offset forward like a small block. With your old motor and trans in you can look straight up on the bellhousing plane and see where will be.

The way I like to do it if you have the motor and trans is to put the assembly in it with the motor mounts for the small block on the frame with the engine side mounts and everything. Set the motor and trans in and set it on the mounts and play with it front to back to see where you want it. The standard Carshopinc adapter plates center the old style mount with the front holes on the LS1. The 1" setback put the center of the sbc mount 1" forward of the front engine mount holes on the LS1

Do you make your own plates? If so, how thick are your plates?
I was thinking of making mine but if someone makes what I need then I'll just buy them.

I made my plates from 1/4" plate. I took a few hours with hand tools (cutting wheel on a 4" grinder, drill, files, grinder, drill and tap). You can use the template in the FAQ.

I made my with duel pattern. that way I could see which way and which mounts I like best. I had the early BRP and Standard S&P mounting holes. I could have also added the 1" setback. Bottom line is, it is not that hard if your just handy with tools.

I have a set of plates that i cant use. No bolts. You can have them for $25 shipped. They are the TransDapt plates.

Im going to try and make my own, I already have the plate stock. If I cant get it right I will see if you still have them.
