Setting pinion angle.
Alright, so I'm about to fab up my transmission crossmember, but i'm concerned with pinon angle. not sure on where the motor/trans needs be set at(angle). Will I need the drive shaft in in order to figure this out?
You guys get what I'm saying?
Anyway the help is much appreicated.

I used a level with a lazer beam. I set the differential to aim just below the tailshaft and set the transmission to aim just above the yoke. There might be a better way but this works for me.

i made a couple of laser pointers like in the link below. Mount them to each shaft. I then held a piece of lined notebook paper up to the trans laser pointer and marked how far apart the two dots are both up and down and left and right. I then held the paper in front of the laser pointer at the diff and did the same. Then it was just a matter of adjusting the diff and/or trans until the distances were the same front and back.

i always set mine up with the pinion -2 so i measure at the face of the crank pulley/ dampener and the face of the pinion gear and set it so the pinion gear is 2 degrees less.
