BUDGET Has anyone used LS1 gauges, column, ac....
I'm doing a LS1 6 sp swap in a 64 A-body. I bought a totalled 02 Z28 Camaro and stripped it. I was wondering how much of this car I could use to keep cost down. Thinking I could mount the gauge package in my dash, use the column, radiator, condensor, underdash heater/ac blower unit, rear axle complete with handbrake assembly.
This brings up quite a few questions though: This would mean I would use much more of the harness then others do. Who can tell me what I can take out - like pollution pump - throttle control.... How does the computer make sense of these changes? If I use the 02 Camaro column can another steering wheel be installed instead of the air bag wheel?
I would also modify the stock 64 tank to accept the sending unit assembly from the Camaro.
I know that a nine inch rear is the way to go but I have the axle out of this Z28 with the right ratio and disc brake set up. Is there anyone that narrows these axles? Is this axle a posi? I'm looking at no more than 450 HP
I sure would appreciate you thoughts.
