Default Wire Harness Opinions

I have a Silverado 5.3L 4x4 truck harness and I have decided not to use it. My conversion will be very basic since the car will be used for track events only. So, no A/C, etc. Just Alt, PCM, gauges, and sensors. I am thinking about finding and modifying an F-Body harness or purchasing a very basic aftermarket one. Opinions? Sources? Thanks, Gene

Your truck harness will work fine. You just have to remove what you don't want, but if your dead set on an F-body harness then go for it.

I don't want to carve up the truck harness...I'd rather sell it and use an F-Body harness which has the correct connectors.

The truck harness has the exact same connectors as the F-body. Only difference being the injector connector, and the maf (depending on years) and also the dbw setup on the 03+ trucks.

Problem with the factory harnesses is where they place the PCM (in the engine compartment). You can weed through it, but may be easier to go aftermarket and put everything under the dash. Cleans things up a ton.

and TBW vs cable TB....is a big reason to not cut the truck harness and sell it off.

thanks bjamick, good information. I'm still thinking about selling the truck harness intact because (as stated above by many) the TWB will be removed (cable is preferred for road race car) and the injectors are different. My engine is an L33 2005. I'm using an LS6 intake with a cable driven TB.
