I guess I'll go ahead and add some of the stuff I bought
Motor mounts from eBay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I'm going to run one fuel line from the tank so I bought a corvette fuel pressure regulator with the return built in
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I'm going to modify my stock 5.3 harness, I'll post a step by step when I do that.

I too have a 79 TA I eventually wanna do a swap. I have had a LS TA in the past and loved that car.
Here are specs I have accumulated
BRP Hot rods has oil pans, headers and engine and trans swap kit.
http://www.brphotrods.com/1970-1981%...0firebird.html
As for a auto trans anything with E on the end needs its own computer and you will need either a new drive shaft or yours resized. A 700r4 will work but you'll need a diff crossmember and I dont know if the BRP one will work with it, A 200r4 will bolt right in stock but dont know if it will mount to a LS and its torque rating is low.
Also fuel wise you'll need a new tank with pump, returnlines etc...if current is old or done.
Wiring mine is so old that I'll have a new complete circuit put in.
NX74 just stunning!

RavonousTA,
what radiator did you use and how is it mounted? Also, any info on the electric fan?

Ok, time for an update here are a few more "obstacles" I'm getting around
I sat around and tried to figure out what kind of exhaust manifolds or headers I was going to use. I really didn't want to spend $500+ for a set of headers.
The best exhaust manifold to use is a 1998 F-Body LS manifold.
I want to post pics so this will help others see what they are dealing with when trying to install the manifolds in thier second gen. I got this info from Thrash on nastyz28.com
Comparison between both passenger manifolds (98 is on bottom)
Fittament of 98 Manifold on passenger side (looks right at home)
Fittament of 99-02 manifold, it's hitting frame area
I hope this information has helped others as much as it has helped me, it's obvious the 98 manifolds are a better choice if going with a stock manifold.

I've been trying to figure out how to do my check engine light when I install my 5.3 engine. I didn't want to just add a generic bulb under the dash and wanted a more "factory" look and feel.
Here's what I came up with:
I bought a check engine / brake lens for an 82 corvette from Ecklers Corvette Part # 45528
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1648
I decided that since I have the U14 guage cluster along with one of Daniel's oil pressure guages, I didn't need the "oil" idiot light in the tach .....so this is where I'm putting the check engine light.
I wished I could have used the whole "check engine" script, but it was too large to show through the opening in the tach face so I trimmed it to allow just the "engine" script to show.
I used a small dab of hot glue to secure it.
Here's is what it looks like, I don't have any way of applying power to it so I put a flashlight behind it, you get the idea
When I go to install my vortec harness I'm going to rewire this light to allow the PCM to control it's function.
I understand that this is really hard to see, but you get the idea

PCM Mount Options
I'm going to try and mount my PCM on the front drivers area where the charcoal canister used to sit, then my air intake filter will reside above it.
I bought a S10 PCM mount to secure the PCM.
Here's a picture of the 1998 – 2004 S10 mount part# 15995679
I got mine off eBay used from a seller s10partswarehouse
Hope this helps, it looks like it can be modified for a variety of applications

booster
I put an LS6 in my 74 Camaro. Mated it to a 700r4 and 3:42 gears. It stopped well with giant C6 Z06 brakes all around.
I don't think the batwing's gonna work unless you have the motor real high to clear the k member. Wish I could've kept it , pretty easy I think I used a stock Camaro pan without any cutting...just as is. On the next one (a 67 RS) I did need the pan notched , but I beleive most have to on a 1st gen. Good luck.

Very nice ride NX74LS6, what wheel tire combo do you have on there? Are they OEM Chevy? I'm looking for wheels/tires for my '79 Z and I want them to be perfect. I daresay the ones you have there are perfect!

I used led lights w/ 3/16" holes in my dash to add a check engine, brights and turn signals with autometer gauges installed in a modified dash cluster.
1981 Trans Am with LQ9, 4L80E, 2002 f-body rear brakes, 1LE front brakes, full set 06 GTO seats, functional shaker scoop.
Thanks for the part number on the lower radiator hose.
