Default Removing Oil Filler fr Valve Cover

So what's the secret (fbody 2001) - I know its like a cam lock and should twist off but I've tried twisting, pushing and twisting, and pulling till I'm blue. Gotta be easier than what I'm doing! -Bob

Wrap some det cord around it....

Are you talking about the composite extension? If it's like my truck engines it is a b!@(# to turn. There IS a cam lock on it and once you get past that it will nearly fall off. It unscrews the same direction as the oil cap.

Hope this helps.

I pulled the valve cover and got to easily from the inside. LS motors have reusable valve cover gaskets so it is not a big deal to do.

So did you have to push or pull before twisting or just twist?

I thought about taking it off but can you really see anything that helps from the backside? The locking portion is on the side isn't it?

I don't remember exacty. I do remember it was obvious how to get off once I got to the back side.

I've had them as easy to remove as the oil fill cap, and next to impossible to remove. I think if the o ring drys up it kinda seizes on. I looked at the back of a valve cover, but didnt see anything to push on to make it easier to remove. I'd just try a big pair of channel lock plyers if it were me.

I tried reefing on it and gave up.

I'm sure it was going to break because it's plastic.

Well an 8" pipe wrench works!! There is a little tab that needs to be depressed if you knew it was there (I didn't and about half of it broke off - but I think its still usable) - I couldn't see it from the back side.
