Default 81 Zephyr -Big Pimpin-

First off, not my choice of paint or int but, it's a clean car.

This will be a long term project, twin turbo, lsx, carb, powerglide streetcar.

Now you see were the Big Pimpin comes from...

Wheels make the car...

I found alot of good deals, two masterpower t70 with .68ar's, gm intake, 90/10's, coilovers, caster plates, sn-95 spindles, manual rack with soild bushings and a AJE k member with gm mounts.

Also fit the 275/60's in the rear.

I can't make up my mind on 5.3 or 6.0 but i want to keep the coil on plug set up.

Let me know what you think...

Fandamntastic. Go with a 6.0L and take advantage of the larger bore and use a larger intake valve without shrouding. Keep the exhaust quiet for a hypersleeper

looks identicle to a foxbody engine bay.....did they use the same inner fenders and firewall on these cars as the fox bodies?

Just about, the only difference i know of is that they are 5 inches longer in the wheel base. Mustang k-member and all the rear stuff is mustang too. The car has alum bumpers and are lighter than a mustang.

And yes, i want it super quiet. I want to keep the bass boat flake and int just for fun.

Get you an 8.8 w/3.55's, UPR rear suspension. It would look good with one of those Thunderbolt-style teardrop hoods too. The hood would help heat escape well to boot. You are gonna have street machine of the year if Car Craft sees it! Good luck with the build, I really want to see this one done! Take care, Stew

I think I'd spring for a new steering wheel, but to each his own. I mean, it doesn't have a wavetastic neon green metallic paint job.

The car is a fox body. All suspension parts tha are for the fox will fit that. You should have kept the diamond plate...and had some made for the wheels so it would match .

If you spend the extra cash and buy the 6.0L you can save a couple bucks by running a set of L92 heads, instead of an aftermarket CNC head.

Cool project - I had no idea those things ran the same suspension, etc as the fox bodies! And you have to do something about the manual windows!!

I wanted the L92 heads at first, but the more i see, the more i don't think they are what i want. Thin deck and i think valve problems.

Manual windows...what should i do, power?? With that int, the windows will be up most of the time. lol

john

The cars back on the ground and i got a 8.8 rear with 3.08 gears.

Must suck to be where you can work on a car now. I have been fighting a snow drift that is a few feet deep. Shovel it you say? It is against a hill and a pain in the rear. At -4 here now, I will just let it sit.

I feel you bro. I bought a snow blower a few years ago and my neighbors are now starting think I'm not completely nuts anymore!

I don't get jealous often but when a guy posts December progress pics and has weeds in his yard and mine is under a foot of snow...

Interesting ride are you keeping the pimp Maaco bass boat paint job too? Hahaha

It's been a while, things have changed, i bought a fairmont that was more grampa like. So, i switched everything over and sold the zephyr.

I also found a 5.3L with 90k on it for $175 and a glide with a deep pan for $100. I cleaned everthing up and put it in the car

The deal was too good to pass on the engine but i want to do a 6.0L because i have two 70mm turbo's with .68ar, i wonder how it would run on the 5.3L ?? but at least i can do all the fab work on the turbo kit and stuff.
