Default another 5.3 in an 85 c10

Well , here I go again I have already installed an LS moter in a '79 C10 and started to put an LS motor in a '65 Chavelle. This time I am putting a 5.3 out of a '03 GMC Seirra into my daily driver '85 short bed Chevy C10. Here are some details on the motor....
I started off with a complete 5.3 pull out, disassembled it, left the bottom end alone, freshened it up with a new timing chain and an oil pump. I put a low mile Z06 Cam in it, and a set of ported (by Chris Mitchell) milled, and cut for bigger valve 5.3 heads.

The truck is my daily driver so I am hoping to get it back on the road ASAP!

I am hoping to pull the old 350 this week end so I can get started with the install. Thanks for looking.

yeah, ive been by stoney creek when i come up from NC! my mom stays in claremont, which is like 5 minutes from spring grove. spring grove is about a 20 minute drive for me. for pcv i will just drill a hole, put a grommet on, and hook my hose up. heres how i hooked up the pcv to a set of valvecovers just like the ones im going to run....

How far did you mill the heads and what compression do you expect to have? Any changes to the combustion chambers beyond the bigger valves? What size valves?

the heads were milled .020, and valves are 2.02/1.60. the combustion chambers were left alone. i think the comp is going to be something like 10.2-3:1.
fptransport, have you got any pics of your 84?

Cool, you'll have to let me know how that works for you. My machinist wanted to do the exact same thing to my engine. This car is pretty much my daily / road trip car and I didn't want to get crazy with it (cheap or mid pump gas, etc). He said it wouldn't be crazy but would give me the shot in the arm a 5.3 needs to really be fun. It sounds cool but I'm not doing it until closer to summer.

Thumbs up

What did you use for motor and trans mounts? I'm considering an LQ4-LQ9/NV4500 swap into my father's '82 C-20. His stock 292 I6 has well over 500k on the odometer and even though it runs strong, there's noticeable bearing knock. Id like to have some [EDIT] options (potions LOL!) when the time comes for a rebuild or a change in powerplants.
