Thumbs up 6.0 on a 99 Trans Am

I have a 99 Trans Am wth a T56 and I would like to upgrade to a 6.0. I wanted to know what I need to change to have this conversion done. Do I need the wiring harness, ecu, etc...?

If you get a Gen 3 6.0, you can use your wiring harness and PCM, if you get a Gen 4 6.0 from a newer car/truck, you can get a conversion box that will still let you use your PCM...do you mean a truck 6.0 or a car 6.0?

That is a 3rd Gen. It will be plug and play with some additional tuning to get it spot on.

Default ls1 cam

Yes the ls1 cam will fit. Going to use the one in your sig? If so should be a good combo !

If anything looks different (as the pan will be different) just swap it over from the ls1.

Basically it will be a direct swap, just use all the Accessories that are on the LS1..you will have to Drill & Tap a hole for the outer Alternator Bolt.

This 6.0 is the one that they call the LQ4 right? Is this a good engine if I put the cam and PP heads that I had in my LS1? The reason I'm doing this is because the mechanic screwed me over with my LS1 block and pistons and I can't find another one that's within my budget and I think I'm getting a good deal with this complete 6.0.

a 6.0 can be either a LQ4 or LQ9.. its a great engine. You will need to use you LS1 oil pan and stuff but it's a super easy swap.

Depends. It could be an LQ4, or an LQ9. The LQ4 has dished pistons for a little lower compression, and the LQ9 has flat top pistons, for a little higher compression. Otherwise, I think the motors are identical. Either way, it should be a good combo. I'm going to be doing basically the same thing, only a little different cam soon, with an LQ4.

I believe '05 was the start of most of the Gen IV.
