Default Champ pan/oil filter adapter.. what filter!?!?

ok, i bought a champ pan and their oil filter adapter(LS1000) quite a few months back. ive had the pan on, but never got around to putting the filter adapter on. well im getting headers made soon and want it on there to make sure it clears everything. i just changed the oil in my crew cab(06, 5.3) and saved the old filter to use on this for now... wont fit. went to autozone, tried on vette, camaro, other silverado oil filters.. none fit. they will screw on about 1/10th of a thread and stop lmao. so has anyone else had this problem? im going to be calling champ tomorrow if i dont find out before then.
