Default sn95 mustang LS1 swap

Well, it all started off with a frame off build on my '88 s-10. I soon realized I wanted to do it right and take my time with it. But i still wanted to have something to plaay with in the meantime. So i tore into my '96 v6 the other day. I already pulled out the 2003 3.8 and trans and am cleaning them off to sell for some parts money.

I bought a stripped longblock the other day out of an '02 trans am.
It came with an ls2 cam and ls2 bare intake, and is fitted with z06 springs already...

I havent had much time to start measuring and installing yet though.
Im still in the planning stage as of now. This will be a budget build so I am carefully deciding on parts.

my plans are to have a nice 11 sec driver on motor and 10 sec on spray.
from what other guys are running I think its pretty acheivable within my budget. especially after some weight reductions....

my current to-buy list is:

cam
complete ls1 intake
4l80e
stall
explorer rear (96+ come with 31 spline, gears, posi, and disc brakes)
351 swap headers( i already have the ls1 flanges)
front access.
and lots of misc nuts and bolts......
engine and trans harness

being that i bought a stripped longblock im missing several components

i cant post on the classifieds yet so ill list it here and hopefully some of you guys can help

i need:

coils and brackets
flywheel
harmonic damper and bolt
pushrods
intake bolts
header bolts
water pump
alt and ps bracket
timing cover bolts
oil pump bolts

itll probably be a non-a/c car since itll only get driven about 3-5 miles daily and on the weekends.
im not sure what cam i am going with as well as the stall.

ill be running either 3.73 or 4.10 gearing and am guessing like a 3200-3600 stall.

i dont mind a choppy idle as long as it maintains some street manners..

like i said, i want a 11 sec n/a car that can hit 10's on a 150-175 hit of juice

any suggestions? think my goals are acheivable?

You cannot use the entire explorer 8.8. They have different mounting boss's (different rear suspension), the explorer rear is also offset, 1 axle is longer than the other. You can use the differential guts though. I used a superduty 8.8 diff with 31 spline mustang axles etc.

I know they are different but I figured I'd be able to grind off the leaf brackets and weld in the mounts from my original rear. I also thought of grabbing an extra "short side" axle tube and shaft. I haven't measured but I might even have to shorten it a bit. Sounds correct?

Yeah, need pretty much everything on that list plus more. Bad thing is since it's a budget build, I can't afford everything on there at once. Pm a shipped price on your items though

for the amount it is going to cost you to modify the explorer rear you might as well source out a mustang diff from a junk yard. They are plentiful and cheap. they were the same dimensions from 79-98, the only difference is the brakes and bracketry...
