2" spacers are needed on all 4 corners to run 4th gen or C5 wheels

295 width is generally the largest without doing the mini tub

i heard that if you put a 4th gen rear in the 3rd gen that you wont or dont need spacers? and can the fron thubs be swapped out to 4th gens? dont like the idea of a 2" spacer when cornering at high speeds...

you can swap out the rear axle for a 4th gen rear. Thats a direct bolt in and you usually gain better rear brakes

the fronts you are stuck with what is there. The spacers work, but I wish they were hub-centric. I've used them with no issues in the past, but have swapped back to 3rd gen wheels for the same reason. I plan to be turning at a high rate of speed (someday)

Centering rings are available for the spacers. Dont fret over just that

A 4th gen axle swap will allow you to use 4th gen wheels. The axles do not protrude 2" per side so the wider wheels will hit the inner fenders sooner

Brakes swap over to the 3rd gen axle freely, Theres no real benefit to buying a 4th gen axle over upgrading the existing axle for less money

so the LS1 rear brakes will swap right over to the 3rd gen axle? bolt across kind of thing? and which rear is the stronger of the 2? i know eventually i would have to get a 9" or a 12 bolt...but stock for stock which is the best rear?

and i found a website for liek $700 you can get the whole front hub assembly brand new and will readily accept 4th gen wheels and i think C5 brake set up...

3rd gens came in a bright blue something, which isn't close to NBM. Of course, if you start with the right car, you can paint it whatever you want.

I have 4th gen f-body brakes on my 3rd gen 'vert. LS1 front and rear brakes. Yes, they will bolt on with a little fabrication and the right adapter brackets. You already found the site that'll sell you them ready to bolt on.

My 3rd gen rear had disc brakes, so it was just a matter of bolting on the ls1 rear brakes and rotors and after modding the e-brake cables, the e-brake works!

Both rears are the same strength wise.

If you have a drum brake rear, it might be easier to go with a 4th gen rear axle....

You will still need spacers to run a 4th gen offset wheel

Early 3rd gens used the true 7.5" ring gear, 86 or 87 they changed to the same 7.625" ring gear as the 4th gens and the very latest 3rds use the same series differential. Strength differences 82-02 are negligible. The 9 bolt is 7.75" ring and only marginally stronger. Not worth the cost

If you plan on upgrading later, dont bother swapping rears

I'm running Zr1 wheels 17x9.5 fronts with 2" spacers and C5 brakes and the rears are 17x11 with 1.25 spacers and C5 brakes. If you run a 4th gen rear and try to run 17x11 ZR1s they stick out to far in my opinion.

i have centerline lasers 17x7 in front and 17X9.5 in rear. the rears have 6" backspacing. fits perfect. all the tire is to the inside of the lip but i did beat in the front lower part of the inner fender wells so the tire wouldnt rub. im running 315-35-17 nittos in rear. since the nittos run small, they fit the 9.5 wheel great.

yes i am. i bought the 275-45-17 nittos at first. but they looked like ****. too narrow. i didnt know they are smaller than other tires same size. the 315's look bad ***. the side wall is straight. not too big at all. i have seen other 315 brand tires on a 9.5 and they looked too big for the wheel. but the nittos look great!! ill post some pics.

I'm running Ronal LZ's, but they did custom offsets. The rear is stock offset and the front has a 1.5in spacer (hub centric). I got them for less than retail through Discount Tires, but I don't think Ronal USA is selling aftermarket wheels anymore. 245/40/17 in front and 285/35/18 in back.

so you just run spacers on the 3rd gens and run the 4th gen wheels and thats that? and the 4th gen brakes swap straight across? bolt up or is there cutting / welding involved? or?
