Default 5.3 vs. 6.0 is it worth the bills

ok i have a 97 camaro rs v6 im doing a ls swap in its gonna be carbed with a light cam and maybe heads later on but now i gotta git my motor is the 6.0 lq9 worth the $1200 or should i just go with a 5.3 $500??

If your doing heads then yes. The 4'' bore give more options for L92 heads etc...

Also the LQ9 is higher compression as well.

The 5.3L is cheap and a 6.0L will bolt in its place. So you could cheap out, then buy a 6.0L long or shortblock later built to your specs to swap in its place.

Either is better than the V6!

I went with the 5.3 due to funds and getting all the ls setup stuff. my intention is to move to a 6.0 down the road if the 5.3 doesn't cut the mustard. I am putting in a 70 chevelle, stock 5.3, thumpr cam and 243 heads for the time being.

See if you can find a deal, i got my LQ4 6.0 for 700$, had to jew some folks for a bit but MAN, this thing puts a big *** smile on my face.

6.0 all the way. just pay more now.
unless ur good at fabbing. then forget about h/c and just pump some psi into a 4.8/5.3

ok thanks every one i have a couple more questions im going withe the 6.0 so my first ? is is there a way to run the efi plug and play other than the stock setup or megasquirt and my other ? is what k member should i go with?.

Get a LS1 K-member and Mounts, it's cake when you use them..trust me. I wish I went that way the first time..it would've been less of a headache.

As far as wiring goes..I made my Harness plug-n-play with my setup.

I know you say you are going Carb'd, but EFI is pretty simple to do with these cars.

I got the complete bottom-end for $500 on an Engine Stand delivered to the house..there are deals out there..
