Default 6.0 questions

this might belong in another section, but the info im lookin for is for an engine swap on my truck. i want to put a 6.0 into my 90 silverado. its a 4x4, lifted and will be on 35s. i was wondering what the differences were between the lq4, lq9, and ls2. what are advantages/disadvantages of each of them? i wont be doing much to the motor, probly just long tubes, duals, and a mild cam. i know the trucks not a popular choice here haha, but if anyone has any tips, advice, or info, i would really appreciate it.

thanks

Basically the LQ4 and LQ9 are the same, iron block, same heads. The LQ9 has flat tops hense more CR. I would do a LQ4 it'll run good on 87 gas plus is more common than the LQ9. The LQ9 and LS2 really need 92 gas or better to get the most out of them.

Plus the LS2 will have a premium being a AL block.

Yes, the LQ4 was used in the 2500/3500HD's and the Vans. The H2 Hummer also used it.

The LQ9 was used in the half-ton trucks. Caddy's/SS/Denali and VortecMax etc...

I would run at least 4.56's with the 35's, especially with a 4l80.

Make sure to tell em why the 92+

LQ4 9:6 comp
LQ9 10:1-10:2 comp
LS2 10:9 comp

LQ9 71-72cc head
LS2 64-65cc head

LQ4/LQ9 iron blocks
LS2 alum blocks

So as you can see we are just talking about the heads and pistons right now, there are a more differences, but it depends on your budget and intentions for which route to go...

Yeah to lazy to post the CR info!

But the LQ9 has different rods as well, same length just the stronger ones. The LS2 has the same rods as the LQ9. The LQ4/9 have same heads "317's"/intake/injectors/ block/crank. Save for the early 99-00 LQ4 which had iron heads and thick crank flanges.

Knee deep, holla back when you are like me neck deep..... lol

But like I said Boss, it depends on your budget..... Some guys do
the LQ4/LQ9 with the forged internals..... I had an forged motor before and for what I want to do, I decided to keep the hypo's this time, not spraying.... It worked for factory and guys are getting 100k+ out of em..... You might want to think of a cam/head,header,intake,TB etc swap........ I have never seen an all forged motor last 100K+ except for the 88-93 stangs and we know thier history, if they got 100k......

My thing was cost effectiveness..

You could find
a decent LQ9
cam, springs, headers, used heads 243's ported or L92's, 450-500HP easy

I looked for the 6.0's at the junkyards etc..... but I just found a good deal on a pullout a 06 GTO..... check out
car-parts.com

Thesis....lol
