Default 98 Auto Harness Question

Picked up a 98 Auto harness for my 94 Z swap. I'm being told I can only use a 98 computer with this project. Is this true?

yes the 98s were a one year only. i have one, i bought it in pieces and found out the hard way. if you have any other questions let me know. i know 98s use a different coolant temp sensor and knock sensors

Knock sensors are contained within their own small harness which uses the standard inline connector for LSx engines. The miniharness is 98 specific, knock wiring is not. Match the miniharness to your knock sensors

Repinning the PCM connectors to the 99-04 pinouts isnt difficult, just time consuming

The 98 CTS is preferable for your swap because it incorporates the coolant gauge sender into the CTS making one less sensor to retrofit to the new engine to get all of your gauges working. All of my harnesses use the 3 wire CTS

It's a pain in the *** when you first start..trust me..lol

Here is what I would do..

Re-pin the 1998 to the 1999-02 setup
Get a 1999-02 PCM
Get everything needed to make the Harness work(like mentioned, 1999-up Knock Sensor Wiring)
Swap it all in..

No more work than any ordinary harness job. Just remember to add a pin on the alt wire because 99-04 PCMs control it. 98s used resistance from the gauge

Just the little section that goes under the intake. It has an inline connector at the rear and interchanges freely with later miniharnesses

Just be sure to match the knock sensors to the harness used
