I have a 6.0 in my 68 camaro and need some kind of adaptor for the old style sending unit or a retrofit one (the one for the side of the head). any info would help or point me in the right direction, thanks.

you can also buy them from any hydraulic place you have locally,,, I am looking for the thread size, I think it was a 16mm NPT to 1/4 NPT ...

Sounds like oil sending size, mine was 16mm to 1/8 . They have your size also.

I dont remember tony... I know it was a 16mm to whatever the size of your sending unit is. as mention b4 i got mine from a local hydraulic hose shop lot cheaper just my .02

The temp sender hole in the head is 12mm x 1.50

The oil pressure is 16mm x I believe 1.50 but don`t quote me on the pitch.

470ohm, but yes you should use it to prevent cooking the alt

where exactly do I put this 470 ohm resistor? I don't want to burn up this alt.

autometer makes adapters for it for their oil sending unit.. which converts metric to sae

I'd use a light bulb instead of a resistor (that is if these are like the CS and SI alternators). I just put it under the hood inline of that trigger wire.

Also, I know I'm going to run into this same issue soon enough. I'm thinking of just finding a brass metric adapter that is close to what I need, drill out the center hole to 1/4" or whatever and just tap it to the standard thread I'd need.

I am going to guess that your 68 probably uses a sender with 1/2 npt threads. If so, you wont find an adapter for that. The end of it, that sticks into the head, is too big for any adapter to work. If it's 3/8 npt, see this thread.

If the mid 80's sender uses the same ohm measurements, I can cut and thread one for him, so it screws straight in.

If it is truely a 1/2 NPT you can put it into a block heater plug. Just drill out the hex allen head and thread it with a tap. That is how I installed a Datsun sender.
