05 5.3 harness with 02 Camaro ECU ?
Hey guys,
Been asking a few shops this and keep getting conflicting information.
I am in the process of installing a 5.3 L33 into a Mazda Miata and need to convert the engine to a cable tb from the drive by wire setup due to hood clearance. The truck throttle dbw body is a little taller and hits the hood. The engine I purchased came with its harness and ecu and I am using a LS6 intake manifold.
Instead of buying another harness, could I re-use it with a Camaro computer? I don't mind doing some re-wiring that would be needed but would rather not spend more on buying another harness if possible.
Or could I use the 05 Silverado ecu and reprogram it to control cable tb?
I have read that not all 2005 computers have the hardware to drive the IAC on the cable throttle body.
The ECU I have from the Silverado has these ids:
SVC:12589463
HW: 12589162
Thanks!

Go to the Electronic Throttle Control group and look around. You may learn something about all the different setups

I was just hoping to convert the 5.3 harness or maybe my 2005 5.3 PCM to a cable setup for budget reasons. Another harness/pcm purchase would put a big dent in the ol wallet!

I was curious about this as well. I am planning to swap a hopped up 5.3 into my vehicle and wondered what year ECU's are compatible. I am seeing online that they are listing the same ecu to be compatible with like 5 or 6 different models and a wide range of years. Did you ever find an answer to your question?

You can use the 05 harness with the 2002 red/blue pcm no problems. Cut the ribs off the GREEN pin covers and it will install to the RED location on the 02 PCM.
You will need to add connections for TPS and Idle Air Controller of course. I usually use the 3 wire OIL pressure sensor for the TPS, you just need to move the signal wire from GREEN pin 58 (TAN/WHITE) to GREEN pin 24. You then need to swap the BLACK and GRAY wires at the TPS connector. This makes sure the 5v, Ground Reference is in correct location on plug. Pin 24 is correct location for TP signal on the 02 PCM.
Oxygen sensor wiring is different, multiple changes there. Some grounds need removed, oxygen sensor TAN wires spliced together and run to a GROUND reference pin on the PCM. http://www.lt1swap.com/cable_conversion.htm goes over specifics.
Alternator wires (BROWN & GRAY) to PCM, GRAY changes locations between 02 back and 03 up pcms. GREEN pin 75 (GRAY - Generator Field Duty Cycle Signal) moves to GREEN pin 52 for use with the 2002 back PCM.
Alternatively, you could go with one of the following 2003+ PCM's that support cable throttle, and the ONLY changes needed would be to add the TPS and IAC plugs. NO CHAGNES to O2 or ALT wiring would be required. This might be your easiest route.
2003: Serv. No. 12576106 with Hwd. No. 12570558
2004: Serv. No. 12586243 with Hwd. No. 12583659
2005-2007: Serv. No. 12589462 or 12602801 will both have Hwd. No. 12589161
You'll find the above PCM's in express vans, 4.3L full size pickups.
