Default Direct fit Heavy-Duty LS T56 Hybrid for Heavy/Powerful conversions

I posted this project page up over on the Manual Transmission board, but figured it might also be helpful to some of the conversions here:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/manual-tr...ock-parts.html

and the rough draft of the write-up:

http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28..._Fbody_T56.pdf

These transmissions will be a direct replacement for the F-body LS T56 in any application, and offer all the gearing choices of the Donor Transmission.

Feel free to contact me if you're going to build one of your own and need any help/advice.

Thanks for the great R&D!

I already have a GTO trans converted to work in my F-body (supposedly a "stage 2" from SSI but they never sent an invoice with the trans). Just to be clear my parts list for the SSR mainshaft conversion would be the following:

1) SSR Mainshaft $160
2) SSR bushing and Seal $ 12
3) CTS-V VSS $ 23
4) Spicer slip-yoke $ 80
5) Machining
a. F-body tail housing bore
b. VSS hone

and possibly (since I don't know what year GTO trans was used)

Upgraded 1-2 synchro retainer $175
Machining a 1st gear lip

Thanks,

Larry

That's it.. I could never find evidence that GM modified the 2006 M12 GTO ( I would think not) for the upgraded synchro retainer, so you would need to account for that and the 1st gear lip as you surmise.

That is too cool. I'll be attending the RPM dyno day, hope to see you there.
