5.3 alternator question
I am installing a 5.3 with a carb conversion.
My 87 Monte Carlo has the original 2 wire flat plug. One wire is brown and the other is red. I think the brown wire goes to the guage (it runs into the firewall) and the red wire (it's about 3" long with a round connector) just loops down to the 12 volt stud on the back of the alternator with the wire that runs to the battery. The stock 5.3 alternator plug has a 2 pin as well but round or oblong. Does one pin on the 5.3 atl feed the guage and the other trigger the charge? I was told the engine was a 2006 model. My 5.3 that is in my 1999 Silverado has a 4 pin connector.
I researched this on the forum and only found this question with the 4 pin connector.
Any help would be great.
