Default Dipstick - LS1 Oil Pan on 2000 5.3l

I have a LS1 pan and everything I need to put it on but wondering about the dip stick. Will it still read right using the truck dipstick tube and dipstick?

Or can I just mark the truck dipstick? If so, since the truck hold 6.5L and the car holds 5.5L, do I just measure and cut it 1L shorter?

Truck pan is quite a bit deeper than the F-body pan. I decided to just buy a new F-body dipstick and tube to be safe. When it comes to fluid levels I didn't want to play a guessing game.

Plan change the Ls1 oil pan onto 5.3 L motor into 2001 Camaro. Do the oil pump screen tube and delfector of 5.3L need change for LS1 oil pan (#12558899}?

Windage tray (bolted to the main studs) can be trimmed or replaced with the Fbody, pickup tube needs to be swapped for the Fbody piece

Agreed. As far as I am aware, all the windage trays and pickup tubes only work with the pans they were designed for and won't cross breed without much work. However the Gen III parts are interchangeable across Gen III engines regardless of displacement.

Truck windage trays were the generic full piece. Fbody's used a low profile pan and the front didnt fit anymore. GM simply whacked off the whole section for the front main cap. Its just like the truck tray, otherwise. So trim it and itll fit or use the Fbody piece

Both parts are about $20 brand new from a dealer so you're not really in a bind either way you go

Or just get one from Lokar and call it done. They got them in black too.

If your concern about oil level.. just use the LS1 F-Body, fill to it normal capacity (5.5qt) and check/mark the dip stick that you have. (remember for the static vs oil filter and passage capacity once you start the engine, +1/2 qt ?)

Try ask Machine shop ,can they clean up on bad film oil on screen/tube?
Could it re-use? or throw it away?

Anyone had using braided line or rubber line and fittings from home depot or lowe or auto parts on oil pump tube. Good idea??
