Default LQ4 conversion questions

I have another thread on here discussing an LQ4 swap into my 95' 3.4L camaro. I have been talking with a fellow LS1Techer and he brought up some questions.
1.) Will I need to change out my gas tank or will the original tank be suffice?

2.)The car is an automatic but im putting in T56 so will I need to get a crossmember off a Z28 or SS or will the one I have do?

3.)Same question for the radiator.

1) You might be able just to swap in a LS fuel pump. ( someone else will give you a deffinate answers for all questions though)

2) I would think a fact T56 crossmember. But if you have access to a welder and grinder w/matrl....... make it fit

3) I believe the 3.4L radiator is too small. You can get a new LS1 98-02 radiator from www.rockauto or www.autozone.com for about $119.00

I am sure others will chime in soon

1) the stock pump will work you just need to regulate the pressure (most people use the 03 Vette filter)

2) The LT1 auto crossmember will work (not sure about the V6 one)

3) The LT1 radiators are bigger then LS1 radiators but I'm unsure on the V6 one

so, the stock pump from a 2000 Pontiac Firebird with a V6 (3.8 L) will work in a LS engine just regulating the pressure with the vette filter.

Thanks

Default great thread

Just summin up what I just pm'd ya RS2SSxLS2 for everyone else...............

-The 6 speed mount IS different than the auto mount. The 6 speed mount is offset to the rear more, but bolts into the same spot as the original A4 that you have, in fact the mount your gonna need is the "newer" '98-02 mount. Just an FYI though, A4 V6 crossmembers and A4 V8 crossmembers are the same. The 6 speed mount can also be used for the TH400 (short tail) w/no mods, thats what I have under mine. It has to be "shimmed" up a bit though for d/l angles.........

-Radiators look the same, but the fans/shroud ARE different. I have a SS set up in mine now, it may be an SS thing, but they ARE definitely different than the V6 stuff.

-Fuel stuff wise, they ARE different. 2 line for the V8 and 3 line for the V6. Its been a while, but Im 99% sure that this is the set up that was in my '96, in fact Id bet it is. I have 4 lines coming out of the sending unit. One for the vent/charcoal can behind the d/s rear wheel, then the other 3 to the motor..... Regardless, 2 line system to 3 line system......... Possibly take the "t" out, and re-flare the lines w/a union and cap the sending unit like I did??? I was originally gonna go FI, and what I can remember is the stock V6 pump will work, but runs outta "steam"/cant keep up to the V8 on the big end. Either an additional external inline pump was needed or just go to the V8 in-tank pump. Again, IIRC correctly the V8 pump will go into the V6 sending unit.......

Check this thread out, if you guys havent seen this yet. Great write up and pics to go with it.........

Sounds good enuff for me, that pretty much answers the questions. Now comes the hard part. Doing the damn installing, just hope I dont forget to do something and everything bolts directly up without having to mod stuff.

Well glad somebody told me this. So what would be the ideal intake to go with the L92s and what cam should I be looking at?
