Default Iron block cheap accessory alternative 30$.

I wanted to share with all the truck guys my solution to making the truck accessories work with ls1 stuff.

I am using a truck water pump, crank pulley and tensioner with ls1 intake and camaro low mount alternator bracket.

Here is a picture of how I did it.

I used a 3/4 inch spacer that I found at ace hardware that has a large base on it to ensure a flat surface. Do not attempt to cut any sort of spacer. This has to be a machined peice otherwise it will not line up perfectly. You will also have to drill and tap the top right side mounting spot on the block.

You purchase 2 3/4 inch spacers and you will space out the alternator. You will have to then install a long bolt (approx 115mm) in the third hole on the low mount bracket underneith where the pulley would normally go. You will have to probably cut whatever bolt you use or put in some kind of spacer so that it basicly contacts the front of the block. You will put a nut on the other side of it to secure the bolt.

This bolt will act like a third leg, when you go to put tension on the belt. If you dont use this bolt when you go to tighten the belt the bracket will flex with the tension and it will not be aligned anymore. I personally am using a katech tensioner so belt sizes may very but I used a 53 inch 6 rib belt.

The water pump I'm sure everyone already knows you just have to slightly manipulate it to the left to clear the throttle body. I can take pictures if someone needs to of that as well. The low mount bracket was 24$ on ebay and the two spacers were 3.00$ each so 30$.. and the price of a belt was about 18$. so for less then 50$ I have a perfectly working set up. Alot cheaper and less of a hastle to get rid of a perfectly good water pump. This may not work for everyone but I figured it might save someone some money.

I went ahead and took a picture of the water pump.. it may not be the prettiest way of doing it but, it was free. I have not had one single issue with temperature or flow at all and you have to really get down and look to even notice it.

way to be creative. I've been looking to find more info too on how to run different accessories without being robbed and having to buy camaro specific stuff. it's a shame to get a nice LSx motor cheap that you then have swap around all the accessories to get it to fit in a camaro.
