Default Water pump & pulley questions

i'm doing a Carb'd LS in my 71 nova, and i have the motor all put together, mated to the trans, bolted to the subframe, headers on, and getting ready to look at the front drive setups. the only thing i'm going to run off the front of the motor is the alternator. this car is manual steering and going to stay that way.

i've seen all of the setups from wergner, and those are a little pricey i think.

heres my idea. i'm gonna let you guys see what you think. i am thinking that i will just build my own alternator braket with a turnbuckle setup, no big deal there, mount it low on the drivers side, and use the edelbrock 8896 waterpump with some sort of a bolt on pulley, and just tension the belt with the turnbuckle on the alternator.

simple, sweet, clean.

should work shouldnt it????

I've seen this and one other for around $100.

very nice! i like that mount. that looks simple, and clean.

now i should be able to use something like that, and run the belt around the crank, waterpump, and alternator with no issues correct??
