Default 2006 ls into my 72 blazer...

I bought a 5.3l motor and wiring from a 2006 silverado. (the PO said he thinks it was 2006). My question is, what year transmission will be easiest to hook up to this motor. My blazer is a 2wd.

Thanks

A 4l60e will be the easiest to hook up since that's what they came with from the factory. Pretty much any one from a truck 1999-present will work, and are not hard to come by.

Any pictures of this Blazer?

Honestly if you're putting any good amt of power down I would go with a 4L80E... it's hold a little more, even if you think you may mod something I'd get it...

They're always worth seeing! Is it a factory 2wd, or did you convert it?

Exactly! I took pictures of my most recent project for my own personal notes - not because I thought I was going to do a build topic. I can't tell you how many cars I have built, or helped build and later wished I had in-process or at a minimum completed project photos of. Someone asked about it and I was able to do a build topic after the fact and answer a LOT of questions people had with pictures of how and why I did things a certain way.

Another benefit; when I get old I can show my kids, grand kids or just the neighborhood rug rats what cool projects I owned "back in the day."

4L60E's can be plenty stout if built and maintained properly. There are a few sponsors on the board with the ability to build solid and reliable 4L60E's.

Go with the 4l60e. It will fit better without having to do as many mods to the firewall, tunnel. Does the Blazer have small or large hump tranny tunnel. Also no mods required for wiring and computer programming vs 4l80e.

It had a large hump tunnel but it was butchered so i was going to replace it with a low hump floor. It's a factory 2wd. The only pics i have of it are closeups of all the problem areas. It's parked in my carport and i can't get a side profile shot.

I ended up putting a high hump in my 68 for tranny clearance. I may not of had to after I lowered the tailshaft of the tranny, but I cut the floor first.

I used a 4L60E from a 98 T/A.
