Question when getting a used gen III at what mileage do you buy as rebuild only?

So I am looking at this 6.0 engine for 850 but it has 150k on it and I'm wondering, on these engines at what point do you start buying them only as rebuilds?

Would one with 150k be good for another 100k if I just changed out all the bearings and oil pump?

Would it be good if I just ran it as is?

Any opinions on this would be great and much appreciated.

(I'm considering making this a poll as I think it might be useful for those unfamiliar with this generation of motor)

I would think you could find one with less mileage for that price.

I guess it depends on what your doing with it. whats it going in and what are you trying ot get out of it? If your just putting it in something in stock form and there are no problems with the engine then i would put it in like it is. These engines last forever if they are maintained well.

Its going to be mostly stock maybe some headers and down the road maybe a mild cam. If I changed the bearings on it would that increase its longevity a good deal as long as the cylinder walls don't have any scaring yet? I plan on using only the highest quality synthetic oils on it in the future

I think if that's all your going to do, its not necessary to rebuild it now.

Though, IMO, that seems a little spendy for a motor with that many miles.

Yeah where up North?
I am from MOntreal Canada and if up north is in my area they go for at least 750. One of the few I could find had also 200k miles!

If I can find a 5.3 with transmission and ECM, harness plus accessories at the front for 900 bucks I will go get it this week end! Just let me know where!
