LS1 with T56 in XJ6
Hey guys,
I've seen LS1 engines w/ the 4l60e in jaguar XJ6's before, but never a T56... i was wondering if anyone out there has come across one of these types of conversions before, or performed one on their own?
I've seen the LT1 w/ a t56 before as well -- looked neat. The most difficult part of the project according to the website was obtaining a pedal box for the XJ6, which run about 450 bucks.
Can anyone out there help me out in what I'd need to modify? I already have the mounting hardware for an LT1/4l60e combo.

ha, thats the same conversion i did -- i have an 84 XJ6, series III. It almost is feeling like it is a cursed car -- its been through 2 original engines, and one chevy engine + 2 original trannys. Unbelievable!
i think i will need help figuring out the mounts for the t56, and the clutch slave cylinder. also tracking down a reasonably priced pedal box for the xj6 will be a challenge...

Talk to Andrew at http://www.jaguarspecialties.com/. If he can't help you than it can't be done. Life is alot easier if you stick with the XJ6. If you get into the XJ40 things get tougher as there isn't alot of information out there concerning the LS1. Also check out jaglover.org go to the LUMP section. Good luck and keep us in the loop.

andrew has actually never attempted an LS1/T56 combo. He has done an LT1/t56, which is what i might end up doing if the LS1 engine doesn't come through -- but we'll see. Since the car is perfectly setup for an LT1 right now, it might be a better option, but I do love a challenge ;-)

How about a Tremec transmission? The TK0 550 option looks like it would be good idea:

Does anyone have feedback on Tremec?
(Thanks for the Jaguarspecialties link. I emailed Andrew asking about this Tremec too.)
Thanks,
ROD
