Truck Alternator Wiring (Yes, I've searched!)
Can't seem to find a definitive answer. I am using an alternator off of a '05 Cadillac Escalade (LQ9).
There is the power wire (thick gauge, goes to the battery positive).
There is a brown wire that runs to the PCM
Then there was a wire that ran to some type of box that attaches to the negative battery cable. I am not running this box so now I just have a short wire coming out of the pigtail that I have no idea where to run it to. I talked to a GM guy who said the box that this wire ran to was some type of phase controller for the alternator (I have no idea why a car would need this).
Can anyone please help, fat red to battery, brown to pcm, other wire to???

That is the Generator Battery Control Module. It helps the PCM control the alternator. You can read all about it here:
(It is a PDF file)

Or, if you want the HTML version, you can click on this link (which is a google search) and then click on the very first search result that comes up.

Good luck with this one!
