Default LTX to LSX

Well I got a good deal on a 97 TA and the motor is just plum wore out. I searched a few times and didn't find anything. I plan to use a 5.3 with custom grind cam, and spray. Turbo was an idea but its just gonna be a DD with occasional track time. So who's got a build thread I can borrow?

Thanks man. I appreciate that. Was it really that hard? It don't seem like it other than the wiring but could you change out the whole harness instead of switching stuff around?

Its not much harder than just changing a motor. Make sure you have everything you need and go at it. As far as changing the whole harness that would take a lot longer than moving/lengthening a dozen wires.

O okay. I wasn't sure if the harnesses would interchange or not. After reading it again it doesn't seem that bad. It pertains a lot less than I assumed. Thanks again. I think after the motor swap I am going to swap front clips and brakes. Then it will be exactly like a 98+ car.

im just finishin up a LSX swap into my 95 TA u will need to use the LSX k member with that witch will have the LS brakes with it....As for the wiring im a complete fool wen its comes to that but i had Curent Performance modify my LS harness to work in my LT car it only cost me 175 bucks instead of goin with speartechs $500 conversion harness if u dont feel like choppin up an expensive harness .....flame's wright up helped out a bunch but the swap is pretty straight forward.

I had a 97 TA with a 2000 LS1/T56 swap done to it last year. (The car got totalled by an old lady 2 months later, you can see that thread in my sig) We pretty much had the whole front of the car (k-member, suspension, brakes, etc) put in, and then had Speartech make a harness for me. I have a thread, but it doesn't include a detailed build..

I totally understand that lol. I think I will swap but at a later time. Really need something to drive so I am going to fix the head gasket and my buddy has a hot cam for cheap. Just make it a little more fun to drive and if the heads are off I might as well

HAHA that makes perfect sense. I posted this when I thought my bottom end was junk. But 95% of the smoke is water vapor. So I think for now it will just get bolt ons and a hot cam. Then LS1 later hehe

If you're throwin in a cam, might as well get a CC503 or something, unless you're getting that hotcam diiirt cheap
