Default 1963 impala/ trailblazer ss rear end swap

has anybody used the trailblazer ss rearend on an X frame such as the 1963 impala. I just got the rearend to match the ls2 motor and 4l65e trans that i'm running with. I hope the rearend housing isnt to big to fit and wont scape with my airbags

i would not bother with the rear end. sell it and get a 12 bolt. or build the corprate one it came with.

The rearends are suspose to be "stout" Might be more of a hassle to make it work than what its worth.

I'm not sure why you would do this. By the time you got the mounts setup properly on a questionable (non rebuilt from a salvage yard) axle and get it shortened you could get something made specifically for your application that is new or has been gone through by a pro.

Personally I would buy a 9 inch and call it a day. There are vendors on the site that have custom housings ready to install for your car. Not to mention nearly any gear combo is available with nearly any type of differential.
