Default LS-Camino build thread....complete with track times....

I have had this car since i was 14 and it was purchased by my great grandfather brand new so its been in the family ever since. In high shool i learned the tricks of the trade being a young gear head and played with the car all the time. When the car was done it had a 383 sbc, but i have always loved LSX motors so after the sbc unfortunatly wiped a cam lobe....i knew the direction i was going....

I started this build around july of last year when i bought a 2005 Lq4 for $1200 with 43k on it....came with everything including the ecu and harness

...put a stock ls1 intake on it, changed the oil pan (lh8) h3 pan....and painted it orange...just like it should be from the factory....

Here is what the engine is going into.......It doesnt get any better than this.... doing an engine swap in your parents driveway in the fall in Indiana....

Brp motor mounts welded in.......

The engine finding its new home......

Lots more bs and a taylored speartech wiring harness......

Heres a pic of the new adj. upper control arms....lowered the front 3 in

Finally done....

I have since takin the plastic cover off...didnt really like it....

After airing down the 235 kelly chargers !!!! Lmao......and a **** load of vht left on the track from the nationals.....

Im on the right..x07...13.50's.......not to bad....mph kinda low and it falls on its face in 3rd gear...getting ready to buy efi live and start tuning on her......hoping high 12's with a good tune and drag radials....

That looks like a heck of a 60' time for an el camino on Kelly tires!!!! Nicely done. As for the et/MPH, it looks like you've definately got some tuning to do, but I think you'll be in great shape once you get that sorted out.

Are you using truck accesories with your Ls1 intake? Any fitment issues?

Is there any reason to keep that ugly @$$ Vortec cover on top of the intake? In my opinion it hides the naturally beauty of the individual runners on the intake.

Nice build and great performance especially successful for your first time out!

Sick car man. I've got an '87 that I'm swapping a LS1/T56 into. The swap is done I'm gonna be working on my fuel system as soon as I get the AN tool kit I ordered. What did you do to feed the beast? I'm running stock tank drop sumped, feeds an A1000, to FAST billet rails, with A1000 reg., back to the tank. I've gotta figure out what to do about the old pickup lines on top of tank tho, and also gotta figure out a plan for a return line.
